UN Ambassador Nikki Haley resigns

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley will leave her post at the end of the year.

Trump, along with Haley, made the announcement at the White House on October 9.

Powell served in the Trump White House for nearly a year before leaving her job as deputy national security adviser to return to Goldman Sachs in January 2018.

Haley has handled a number of contentious issues during her time at the UN, including withdrawing the USA from the UN Security Council.

She was confirmed as UN Ambassador four days after Trump was inaugurated in January 2017. Trump says Haley told him six months ago she might want to take some time off.

Haley thanked Trump and said it was "the honor of a lifetime" to serve as his United Nations ambassador. He said Haley would help him make the final pick for her replacement. "But then, I'd be accused of nepotism, if you can believe it", Trump complained. Thank you very much for your support! The sudden move sent shockwaves through the foreign policy community within the Trump administration. Haley specifically lauded Kushner's achievements in fixing the North American Free Trade Agreement and his efforts toward peace in the Middle East.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has yet to confirm the former South Carolina GOP governor's departure from the Trump administration. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) wrote on Twitter.

But her tough stance for America, in the face of an oft-concerted, ugly anti-American U.N. force, will be sorely missed.

During her tenure, Ms Haley supported the U.S. decision to withdraw from the United Nations human rights council. We'll just have to see if she's still laughing in "two to three weeks".

"I don't get confused", Haley said in a sharply-worded rejoinder to the West Wing.

Born in Bamberg, South Carolina, Nikki Haley, born Nimrata Randhawa, is the daughter of Sikh parents Ajit Singh Randhawa and Raj Kaur Randhawa, both highly educated academics who immigrated to Canada from Amritsar before eventually moving to South Carolina.

On Monday, the government watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, or CREW, said that Haley had committed ethical violations when she accepted flights from Jimmy Gibbs, Smyth McKissick and Mikee Johnson. There was a lot.

"No, I am not running in 2020", she said.

"She's done a fantastic job, and we've done a fantastic job together", Trump said, adding that he'd be happy to have her back in another position. "We will miss you... you've done a fantastic job", Trump said in warm words that clearly showed there was no animus between them.
