Lethal Weapon: Damon Wayans Announces He's Leaving the Show

Lethal Weapon was almost canceled over the behind-the-scenes drama between Damon Wayans Jr. and Clayne Crawford. "All the family gatherings, I haven't seen them", he continued.

Wayans cited his age, being diabetic and "16-hour days", as primary reasons for his decision to leave the Warner Bros.

In a sit down interview with a reporter on the set of Lethal Weapon, Wayans was asked to give some hints about what to expect in seasons three. Just before the Season 2 finale in May, former star Clayne Crawford - who played Riggs to Wayans' Murtaugh in the series adaptation of the popular action films - was sacked after being disciplined several times over complaints of emotional abuse and creating a hostile environment on set. "I've given them enough time to find a replacement". Asked if he's kidding, Wayans shook his head and said "No".

Damon's dead serious too. and says he's going to return to the stage after leaving the TV show to "try to find my smile again". The show, which stars Damon Wayans and Sean Scott Williams, is now on the third season which launched at the end of September.

While there is no word on whether or not the show may be cancelled, TMZ reports that Wayans did indicate that he did not get the impression that Fox was excited about his plans. He says he's out in December after the completion of 13 episodes for the new season. "I'm too exhausted or I can't because it conflicts with work", he said. "There is a better way to live life".

Back in 2016, FOX launched the "Lethal Weapon" television series based on the movie with the same name. On Tuesday (10-02-18), yours tuly, Jill Munroe, was on the "Lethal Weapon" set to speak with actress Keesha Sharp (Trish Murtaugh) who is doing double duty in season 3 as a director as well.
