Democrat congressman berates Trump for ‘piggish’ insult to female reporter

After opening the presser up to questions, Trump called on Cecilia Vega of ABC News, who he chose to insult before she even got her question out. "A news conference means you get to ask whatever question you want to ask #FirstAmendment", she wrote.

Trump: "She's shocked that I picked her. Like in a state of shock", he said.

"I'm not, thank you, Mr President", the White House reporter responded.

The White House transcript initially suggested Trump said "thanking", not "thinking".

Ouch. And that was just the warm up.

"Among other things, 45 is a bully and a misogynist and the GOP enables him", one Twitter user wrote, referring to Mr Trump's succession as the 45th president of the United States. "Don't do that", he said. "Can you imagine if I had, what a mess I'd be?"

Of the many - many - journalists Trump has berated, before and, during his presidency, so far, women reporters have been a prime target. Trump instantly shot down the question suggesting that Vega was out of line because the subject of the press conference was the forthcoming trade deal.

"Don't do that. That's not nice", he said, adding that he wanted to answer a question about trade and moving on to another reporter. Always proud of your work @ceciliavegaabc #1stAmendment #AsktheQuestions #Repost ・・・ After calling on ABC reporter #CeciliaVega, who paused as she stood up to ask her question, #DonaldTrump chose to mock the female reporter.

This was Trump's second such run-in with a female reporter. Trump at one point said he'd be open to having the Federal Bureau of Investigation question the third accuser, Julie Swetnick, but also questioned her credibility.

He ignored her and moved on to another reporter's question.

"You've been asking a question for 10 minutes".

He said then-Fox News host Megyn Kelly had "blood coming out of her wherever".

The result: Again, he managed to avoid answering hard questions. "You know what, you've really had enough".

"I think I'll save it for a book like everybody else", he said.
