Video Shows Woman with Baby in High Speed Chase

But officers pulled up just as she was trying to hijack the vehicle and pulled her out and forced her to the ground.

After almost dropping the baby, the woman then jumps into the front seat of a passing vehicle, which police said she attempted to carjack.

The Texas Department of Public Safety released the video Friday. The woman then gets out of her SUV, grabs from the backseat a child carrier holding a baby and begins running from authorities.

According to the DPS, the woman had outstanding warrants and fled after a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop.

Eventually, she runs a red light and crashes into the back of another vehicle.

A trooper then arrived and blocked the other vehicle from escaping, drawing his gun on the woman while a second trooper goes in and safely gets the baby from the auto.

After running across the road with the baby, she tried to hijack an SUV.

The terrified driver leaps out and rescues her own child from the back seat, and police drag Rodriguez out of the vehicle and wrestle her to the floor.

Police separated the woman from her child after placing her under arrest.

Police said the woman, who was not named, was charged with evading arrest, possession of controlled substance and endangering a child.

The baby was handed over to Child Protective Services.

Rodriguez was being held at the Bexar County Jail as of Monday, online records showed.
