Britain warns will not pay Brexit cash if no European Union deal

United Kingdom driving licences may no longer be valid on their own to drive in the European Union if there is a no-deal Brexit, the Government has warned.

He added: "We can mitigate by taking a "continuity" approach, recognizing certain EU-approved goods for import into the UK".

The British government will later Thursday publish 28 "technical notices" covering issues as varied as mobile phone roaming charges and upholding environmental standards.

The UK also faces being shut out of the Galileo satellite programme, its ships being forced to provide security information before docking, and requiring new vehicle safety certificates under a "no deal" scenario.

In what the Guardian described as the most comprehensive study of the impact leaving the European Union will have on the region, researchers found that Brexit was seen as "manna from heaven" for pro-Republic party Sinn Fein who aspire to see a unification of Northern Ireland with Ireland.

It forecast that the UK Department for Transport would have to boost its working ranks by more than 60% to deal with all the Brexit changes.

He said one of the consequences of a "no deal" Brexit "is that obviously we wouldn't pay out the money that has been agreed as part of the withdrawal agreement".

Driving licenses (document here) - "Your driving licence may no longer be valid by itself when driving in the European Union." . The EU directive brought in in June 2017 which capped the prices mobile phone operators could charge each other will no longer apply to the United Kingdom after Brexit.

The new set of "no-deal" papers from the government also warning that roaming charges that allow British people to make low-priced cell phone calls in European Union countries could also come to an end.

There are also concerns about delays at the United Kingdom border.

Ever since the shock 2016 Brexit vote, major companies have been planning for Brexit, but chief executives say the scale of disruption from a disorderly Brexit is such that it is hard to prepare for.

But the government said it would legislate to ensure that the requirements on mobile operators to apply a financial limit on mobile data usage while overseas is retained in United Kingdom law. These cost £5.50 and are available from Post Offices.

"The UK does not require visiting motorists ... to hold a separate IDP to guarantee the recognition of their driving licence", the government document states.
