Bob Woodward's Book Goes on Sale as Ex-Trump Aides Push Back

Bob Woodward's Book Goes on Sale as Ex-Trump Aides Push Back

However, giving his reaction on the book which was released on Tuesday, Donald Trump said that Woodward book is scam and he did not speak in the way he has been quoted.

The book, which has been described by the White House as a work of fiction, has a small segment on India and June 26, 2017 visit of Modi to the White House.

Trump has repeatedly pointed to the barrage of administration officials who have called the book false and denied accusations outlined in the book.

At a White House press briefing, Sanders slammed the book "Fear", from veteran journalist Bob Woodward, as "careless and reckless".

It appeared to be another instance of the president versus the administration, as Trump proceeded on one track while the agencies largely moved on another.

Woodward's account of a dysfunctional Trump White House has already sold more than 750,000 copies, Simon & Schuster announced Wednesday, a day after the book arrived in stores.

The book by the longtime Washington Post reporter says former Trump economic adviser Gary Cohn once removed a document from the president's desk that would have ended a trade deal with South Korea.

Kelly is quoted calling Trump "an idiot", and Mattis is quoted saying Trump has the understanding of "a fifth or sixth-grader", but they've said they didn't make those statements.

"There's one scene last year in the Pentagon where Trump is there and Secretary of State [Rex] Tillerson said, 'This is what's kept the peace for 70 years, '" Woodward recalled, referring to a conversation about national security protocols.

The book includes multiple specific allegations of high-ranking staff members questioning the president's competence and circumventing some of his decisions, as well as Trump bad-mouthing top aides. "It's been the same all along", he told journalists.

Woodward, asked on Monday on NBC's "Today" show about their denials, said, "They are not telling the truth". "The Dems are going insane!"

Alas, that was before the president came to the conclusion that Woodward was working for the Dems and that he made quotes up out of whole cloth, which was about the same time that excerpts of Woodward's book began to leak.

Infuriated by the unsigned missive, Mr Trump on Friday urged Mr Sessions to launch an investigation to uncover the author's identity, citing "national security" concerns.

Woodward replied that these "political statements", denying the quotes in the book, were designed "to protect their jobs".

The commentary, published by the New York Times last week, was written by a senior official in the Trump administration, according to the Times.
