Australian model Sinead McNamara found dead on billionaire's yacht 'died by hanging'

Australian model Sinead McNamara found dead on billionaire's yacht 'died by hanging'

An Australian Instagram model was working her last shift on a Mexican billionaire's superyacht when she was found tangled in ropes at the back of the boat and later died.

Yet despite the vessel's fame and regular worldwide tours, only a privileged few - including Australian model and crew member Sinead McNamara, who died on board last Friday in weird circumstances - have ever laid eyes on the inside.

According to reports, doctors desperately attempted to revive McNamara as she was rushed to hospital on the island, but she died while being airlifted by the emergency services.

Local media has reported a crew member found Ms McNamara's body on the back of the boat on Friday and alerted port authorities.

The circumstances of her death are unclear.

Her body was reportedly found at the back of the boat.

A cause of death has not yet been confirmed, however Greek Authorities say it's not believed to be suspicious. "Excitement is an understatement".

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to her family.

McNamara, who had over 22,000 followers on Instagram, had posted a number of photos of her time in Greece calling herself "the happiest of happy".

She was travelling in the seaside town of Pylos on the southwest coast of Greece.

Opportunity opened up to the young model after she grew a large following on her Instagram page.

Her mother, Kylie, was heading to Greece when she was told her daughter died, The Australian reported.

Several fans also left messages on her account.

And her death has given tragic meaning to an earlier post about quad biking, where she said: "My head is all over the shop today".

McNamara's Facebook reveals her older sister was due to touch down in Greece just a day after her death.

Three days before she passed, Sinead gave a shout out to her sister on her Facebook page saying, "happy birthday to the most wonderful big sister I could ever ask for, 5 days till I get to see you!"
