Matteo Kovacic set to sign on loan from Real Madrid

Despite Kovacic wanting to change clubs this summer, Madrid have been reluctant to sell and have attempted to convince the midfielder to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Kovacic has won the Champions League three times throughout his time in Spain.

The Croatian has the desire to leave the Spanish giants and already revealed his intentions while he was at the World Cup with Croatia.

The Croatia worldwide has been yearning for a fresh challenge since his return from the World Cup and it appears that his wish could be granted before the transfer deadline.

Chelsea may well be set to offer him an escape route.

Modric joined Real Madrid in the year 2012.

The Croatian wants to speak with the club and new coach Julen Lopetegui when the squad returns from their USA tour.

All they have to do is give Modric a significant pay-rise and ensure he stays at Real Madrid beyond this summer.

Modric is yet to return for pre-season after an impressive World Cup campaign, but Lopetegui has calmed the nerves of Los Blancos supporters.

Corriere dello Sport have been largely reporting Inter's interest as they look to bounce back and match Juventus' move for Cristiano Ronaldo by bringing the Croatian worldwide to the club.

"Modric is not leaving Real Madrid", he said.

Real have endured a rocky summer, losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus and failing to land a 50-goal-a-season replacement. Have your say in the comments section below.
