Andre Gomes loaned to Everton for 2.6 million euros

Bernard was the first to be announced on a free transfer after his contract with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk ran out at the end of the past season.

Several Premier League sides including West Ham and Chelsea had been in the hunt for the Brazilian winger while AC Milan also expressed an interest. The Merseyside club have reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign the player in a £28.5 million deal, with the Blaugrana inserting a buyback clause as well.

Barcelona said they reserve the right to buy Mina back, while midfielder Gomes, 25, has cost a £2m loan fee.

The 23-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United but the Toffees have won the race, shelling out almost £30million. A loan move for Chelsea's Kurt Zouma was also being worked on after a deal sheet was submitted to the Premier League for the defender.

"It is important that the club want to fight for something", Mina told Everton TV.

"That is why I made my choice, because of the confidence both the manager and the Club showed in me. This is a great opportunity for me", said Mina. I know about Everton's players and I look forward to being able to play with my new team.

Everton, who finished eighth in the Premier League last season, have always been viewed as the side most likely to mount a challenge to break into the illustrious top six.

Asked specifically about his chat with Silva, he continued: 'I did not need a lot of convincing. Everton always was a big option for me, especially after speaking with the coach, Marco Silva.
