New external GPU gives MacBook Pro up to 8-times better performance

New external GPU gives MacBook Pro up to 8-times better performance

The laptop can be configured to have as much as 32 GB of RAM, and up to 4TB of super-fast SSD storage.

The new models - one 13-inch model and one 15-inch model, both with Apple's Touch Bar - have new eighth generation Intel chips that Apple said should dramatically increase performance. It's apparently the first eGPU to support Thunderbolt 3 displays like LG's Apple-approved 5K Monitor.

Nonetheless, if you're planning to pick up the new MacBook Pro and also happen to have any of the three displays, you'll be greeted with the exact same True Tone display options as found in your newly purchased MacBook Pro.

APPLE HAS STARTED OFFERING an external GPU (eGPU) created in partnership with Blackmagic to accompany its newly-upgraded MacBook Pros.

The Macbooks come with 8th-generation Intel processors, making the 15-inch model up to 70 percent faster and the 13-inch model up to two times faster.

"Built-in I/O connections drive a Thunderbolt 3 display, support multiple accessories and charge your MacBook Pro at the same time". Still great machines, these included all of the ports and indeed MagSafe connector that so many of us miss from the newer models, and in the process, had become something of a cult favorite amongst users. First introduced on the iMac Pro, Apple insists the chip delivers, "enhanced system security with support for secure boot and on-the-fly encrypted storage". Apple is allowing buyers to embed up to 2TB SSD, while the 15-inch MacBook Pro buyers can insert up to a 4TB SSD. "The MacBook Pro 13 pushes a resolution of 2560×1600 while the 15" version does 2880×1800. Apple's four software platforms - iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS - provide seamless experiences across all Apple devices and empower people with breakthrough services including the App Store, Apple Music, Apple Pay and iCloud.
