UCLA Softball: Bruins are a 3-seed and will host NCAA Regional

Arizona State's remarkable three-year turnaround continued on Selection Sunday as the Sun Devils were named the No. 8 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament with the opportunity to host a Super Regional for the first time since 2013.

OU's first game is against Boston University at 7 p.m. Friday on ESPN2, the first team to beat the Sooners this season.

The Broncos (40-14) won the Mountain West Conference title. Alabama has earned a top-16 national seed 16 times, including a hosting streak of 14 straight starting in 2005.

In that 2014 NCAA Tournament, Ohio was in the Lexington Regional and lost its first two games in the double-elimination tournament.

SC is into the Big Dance for a sixth straight season. They have won their regional and advanced to a Super Regional in the last eight of those trips. Arizona State (43-11) is No. 8 and playing a regional at home in Tempe. LSU is one of nine Southeastern Conference teams to earn a national seed as all 13 teams from the SEC made the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight year.

Oklahoma was led by junior Blaine Hale, who shot his best 18-hole score of the spring season, a five-under-par 67, which tops the player leaderboard.

Tarleton is headed back to Canyon for another postseason tournament after being named the No. 6 seed in the South Central Regional Tournament by the NCAA Sunday night. Kentucky will then follow with its opening game against (4) UIC at 2:30 p.m. ET.

The Titans received one of the two Pool B bids as the WIAC does not have an automatic qualifier this season. Individual session tickets are on sale at ticketmaster.com for $15.

The final team standing at the College Station Regional will face the Gainesville Regional victor in the Super Regionals that start on Thursday, May 24.

Hosting an NCAA regional has always been the goal for these Gamecocks.
