With AP Photos.Manchester United says former manager Alex Ferguson is out of intensive care in the hospital following surgery for a brain hemorrhage.

The news that Sir Alex Ferguson is no longer in intensive care has been welcomed by the football community.

The family continue to request "vital" privacy as Ferguson enters the next stage of his recovery.

After successfully establishing United as the biggest club in England, Ferguson retired from football in 2013, having led the Red Devils to their 20th Premier League title in his final season.

Manchester United have now brought us some positive news after confirming that the club's legendary former manager is no longer in intensive care.

West Ham United striker Chicharito has revealed his affection for his ex-Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson surprised fans by making football his first discussion as he got off from coma. The duo then went on to enjoy five memorable and extremely successful years together through to 1997.

He was knighted in 1999, the year United won the treble of Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup.

"Everyone at Manchester United sends our very best wishes". "It's a tough time for everyone but I'm thinking positive and hoping he will pull through".

Mourinho said midfielder Michael Carrick will captain the side when he plays his final match against Watford on Sunday.

"That's the effect he had on people. He means a lot to me, as he does to this club".
