Israel strikes 'dozens' of Iranian targets after rocket barrage on Golan Heights

Israel strikes 'dozens' of Iranian targets after rocket barrage on Golan Heights

Israel has used 28 planes mostly F-15 and F-16 fighters and fired 70 air-launched and tactical missiles in the last night air raid on Iranian military installations in Syria.

Fearing that Syria, Iran and Hezbollah are setting up a front against it, Israel has occasionally struck at their forces. They must understand that if it rains here, it will pour there.

The occupied Golan Heights is a 690 sqm plateau captured from Syria at the conclusion of the six-day war in 1967 and annexed in 1981 in a move not recognised by the worldwide community.

On May 10, representatives of the Israeli army said that the positions of its army on Golan Hiehgts were attacked.

Syria's army activated its air defenses, which it said intercepted a large number of the missiles. There were no Israeli casualties. I wonder how long it will be before Israel exhausts its list of known targets in Syria and moves on to Iran.

The attack, if confirmed, would mark the first time Iran has fired rockets in a direct strike on Israeli forces. "Some 20 rockets were fired, and not one fell in Israeli territory", he said. The Syrian state news agency reported that the country's air defenses responded to at least two waves of Israeli missile attacks after the strike against the Israeli positions.

Syrian anti-aircraft defences intercepted Israeli missiles launched at Syria early on Thursday, according to the official SANA news agency, which cited a military source.

Conricus said intelligence, logistics, storage and vehicles as well as the origin of the rockets were targeted. An IDF spokesperson called it one of the biggest Israeli Air Force operations of recent years.

"We're facing a new reality", Mr Lieberman said.

Israel's military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus said Israel had retaliated for an attack on its outposts in the strategic Golan Heights plateau.

Russian Federation said 28 Israeli F-15 and F-16 planes took part in the raids with a total of around 70 missiles fired.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the Israeli strikes hit pro-regime positions near Damascus, close to the central city of Homs and in southwest Syria. The barrage of missiles killed three soldiers while injuring another two, the Syrian MoD said. Israeli jets also targeted Assad's already weakened air defenses.

Iranian forces are in Syria along with Iran-backed Shi'ite militias and Russian troops to support President Bashar al-Assad in the country's civil war.

However, he said, the Iranians were not able to achieve their objective.

Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu had recently staged a presentation to tell the world that "Iran lied", actively pursuing nuclear weapons contrary to the commitments of the Iran deal, illustrating his points with super-sized letters - just in case his audience didn't really get the scale of the accusations.
