Celtics eliminate 76ers in improbable and tight five-game series

In every great National Basketball Association player's narrative there's a moment he'd like to forget that actually turns into a point in time that shapes the rest of his career for the better.

Even if Embiid and the Sixers found a way to win Game 5, they still faced a severe uphill battle to win two more and do what's literally never been done in an National Basketball Association playoff series. They have a young, productive core led by Embiid and Simmons, plenty of cap space to add to a talented roster this offseason, and draft capital to help firm up the roster with more youthful talent.

Brown scored five points in the fourth quarter and 24 for the game, going 10-for-13 from the field.

"Me and Ben have a lot of room to grow, "Embiid said".

The 76ers' hopes of reaching the Eastern Conference Finals were dashed in Wednesday's thrilling 114-112 game-five defeat, despite Embiid and Dario Saric each contributing 27 points to the cause.

"I feel like we had more [to show]".

After the game, Philadelphia head coach Brett Brown said he wasn't ready to reflect on anything the Sixers might have accomplished during the season.

"We feel like when everybody is on, we're unbeatable". "So, second series and I'm learning, there's a lot of things I learned this series that I didn't against Miami so that makes me a better player, so I'm grateful for those opportunities". We felt like we had a good chance to get to at least the conference finals and that was our goal.

The Celtics are now in the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight year, and Game 1 between them and the Cavaliers takes place this Sunday at the TD Garden in Boston.

"The feeling right now is I didn't want to be done".

With Simmons about to win the Rookie of the Year award and Embiid establishing himself as the best young big man in the NBA, Philly's future is bright.

The Sixers also could have up to six picks in the 2018 National Basketball Association draft. "I'm much better than you guys think".
