Native Plant Brochures Now Available in Spanish | Audubon North Carolina

Please welcome Audubon North Carolina's Bird-Friendly Communities Coordinator Kim Brand. Launched in 2013, Audubon North Carolina's Bird-Friendly Communities initiative is a partnership program involving more than 20 organizations with a vision for creating more bird-friendly North Carolina. This vision statement guides the goals and projects of the group: "Bird-friendly communities give birds the opportunity to succeed by providing connected habitat dominated by native plants, minimizing threats posed by the built environment, and engaging people of all ages and backgrounds in stewardship of nature. "

We are excited to announce that all three of our regional native plants for birds brochures (mountain, piedmont and coast) are now available in Spanish - just in time for the fall planting season. We can barely keep.

As the number of Spanish-speaking residents of North Carolina grows, we felt it was important to share these bird-friendly materials in Spanish. We are providing the "Endemic Plants for Birds" brochures to Hispanic families enrolled in the Habitat for Humanity program in Forsyth County. This brochure is one more way we are encouraging residents to sign up to create their own bird-friendly yard through a program funded by the Audubon Toyota TogetherGreen fellowship program.

Take the brochure with you anywhere you like to buy plants, and ask for these bird-friendly natives. One plant at a time, we can help birds get what they need in our cities and towns, which are often dominated by non-native plants and provide scant food resources for birds.

Where would you like to see these Spanish brochures distributed? Contact Kim Brand, Bird-Friendly Communities Coordinator, to request printed copies of a native plant brochure. All three brochures, in Spanish and English, are available as downloadable PDFs on our website.

Welcome to Kim Brand, Coordinator of Audubon Pro-Ave Communities of North Carolina.

The Audubon Communities Pro-Poultry Initiative of North Carolina, which began in 2013, is a partnership involving more than 20 organizations with the vision of creating a North Carolina pro-birds. This vision guides the group's goals and projects: "Pro-bird communities give birds opportunities to be successful by providing connected habitat dominated by endemic plants, minimizing threats from the artificial environment and involving people of all ages and origins in the care of nature. The Endemic Bird Plants brochures are very popular! Endemic Plants: Mountains (PDF)

Endemic Plants: Coastal Plain (PDF)

As the number of Spanish-speaking residents of North Carolina grow, we feel it is important to share these pro-bird materials in Spanish. We provide the "Endemic Bird Plants" brochures to Hispanic families enrolled in the Forsyth County Habitat for Humanity program. This brochure is one more way to encourage residents to sign up to build their own pro-bird yard through a program founded by Audubon Toyota TogetherGreen.

The booklet explains how you can help birds in its yard by planting endemic plants. It is filled with examples of beautiful plants that provide insects, berries, nectar and seeds that birds need to thrive. And all plants grow easily in North Carolina.

Take the brochure where you buy plants, and order these pro-bird plants. From plant to plant, we can help the birds get what they need in our cities and towns, which are often dominated by non-endemic plants that provide little food resources for birds.
